Fix error in Microsoft Access when using the built-in wizards after installing Office 2010 SP1

This article may interest you, if when using the built-in wizards in Microsoft Office Access 2010 (64-bit) after applying Service Pack 1 (SP1) and you receive any of the following error(s):

– Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.
– The Visual Basic for Applications project in the database is corrupt.
– Microsoft Access can’t find the wizard. This wizard has not been installed, or there is an incorrect setting in the Windows Registry, or this wizard has been disabled.

This issue arises because the built-in wizard files were not successfully updated after installing Office 2010 SP1.

To resolve this issue manually, do the following;

1. Close all instances of Microsoft Office Access 2010.

2. Rename the appropriate wizard files located at c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\ACCWIZ\
Rename: Acwzmain.accde To: Acwzmain.old
Rename: Acwzlib.accde To: Acwzlib.old
Rename: Acwztool.accde To: Acwztool.old
