Today, at roughly 10 a.m. Pacific time, Microsoft began rolling out the much anticipated Mango update to phones around the world.
This is a simultaneous, coordinated, global update that cuts across carriers, phone models, and countries. The Windows Phone 7.5 update will be pushed to more than 98 percent of existing Windows Phone customers.
Mango will not be available to everyone at once. It could be a few weeks before an update message for Windows Phone 7.5 appears on your phone as Microsoft intends to ramp up delivery gradually.
The update will be available to most existing customers within 4 weeks.
To install this update, depending on what kind of computer you have,
- You’ll need to install either the latest version of the Zune Software for PC or Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac.
- Then visit Update Central, the one-stop how-to resource for Windows Phone updates.
To check for the latest global status info for your phone, choose your location: United States | International. The table will be refreshed periodically to reflect the worldwide rollout status.
Microsoft earlier released the Windows Phone 7 Mango “Friends and Family” Bundle: Pre-cleanup which is intended to clean up any beta bits that your Windows Phone may be running to allow your phone to update to the final release when its available.
