Fix Windows 7 Activation: Error code 0x8007000D

If you try to activate your copy of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008, and you get an error message: The data is invalid. Error code 8007000d, then you may want to apply Fix It 50485 Solution.

This error can even be encountered if you run slsmgr -dlv or slmgr -ato from a command line.

The System account by default has Full Control permissions to the registry path-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root and any subkeys.

If those permissions have been altered for the ‘Root’ key or any subkey(s), we would see the error code 0x8007000D.

Download: Microsoft KB2230957.

  1. A life saver! MS support spent two hours on the phone trying to fix this error. They told me that the only solution was a full re-installation of Windows. This solution took less than a minute and I was then able to use the telephone activation service successfully.

  2. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
