If you try to activate your copy of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008, and you get an error message: The data is invalid. Error code 8007000d, then you may want to apply Fix It 50485 Solution.
This error can even be encountered if you run slsmgr -dlv or slmgr -ato from a command line.
The System account by default has Full Control permissions to the registry path-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root and any subkeys.
If those permissions have been altered for the ‘Root’ key or any subkey(s), we would see the error code 0x8007000D.
Download: Microsoft KB2230957.

A life saver! MS support spent two hours on the phone trying to fix this error. They told me that the only solution was a full re-installation of Windows. This solution took less than a minute and I was then able to use the telephone activation service successfully.
